Events
Every Spring, OXE hosts students in 3rd-5th grade on campus and introduces them to elementary topics in chemistry and engineering through hands-on experiments. Each student gets the opportunity to participate in 5 interactive experiments throughout the day and to hear from a Purdue Chemical Engineering Professor. This is OXE’s largest event and has the most member participation for planning and running the event. This is event is free for students and parents and teachers are welcome to attend! Be on the lookout for an online registration form!
Boo at the Zoo is an annual “not-so-scary” Halloween event held at the Columbian Park Zoo in Lafayette. This event includes Halloween games and activities intended for young children and their families along with Halloween themed interaction with the animals! Each year, OXE members volunteer at this event to help set up, work, and clean up all of the activities.
The Freezing 5k is an annual 5k running/walking event that OXE organizes to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This event takes place on campus and is open to everybody! This year the race will take place in October, so have renamed it to the Freaky 5K!
An opportunity for kids aged 6-11 to get some experience with fun and diverse science experiments. The event is hosted on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, kids can come in and get a chance to experience all the science experiments that are put on demonstration. There will be roughly 5-6 kid friendly experiments for example, Oobleck and Elephant Toothpaste. OXE takes pride in helping with this event to give back to the Laffayette community and kids
Mary Lou's Donut Truck
We partner with Mary Lou's Donuts to raise money for our club. This event is a great way to support Omega Chi Epsilon and a local business in Mary Lou's Donuts. This semester they will be coming to campus on Tuesdays and will be located outside the Recitation Building from 8am-12:30pm. Check out our calendar so you don't miss anything.
